Emergency Alert System to Be Tested Wednesday
Emergency Alert System A nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System will occur on Wednesday at 2 p.m. EST.The test, which will access the reliability and effectiveness of the EAS as a public-alert mechanism, will be transmitted through television and radio, and will last about 30 seconds.Get the rest of today's news"This is only a test," Craig Fugate, head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, stressed in a video detailing the plan.The EAS can be activated by the president to inform the public during a crisis.
